St. Thomas @ Windham
September 5, 2013

With the heavey rains from Labor day, the Saints home field we unplayable so the season opener against Lebanon was posponed.  This made the second game of the season away against the Windham Jaguars.

St. Thomas took the field with Mason Krieger in goal.  The defense of Guy Kassas, Scott Lamoureux, Andrew Savage and Matt Baker.  The Midfield consisted of Aaron Dubois, Tommy Griffiths and Bryan King in the center and Liam Sweeney and Andrew Marino on the outside.  Eric Eames was the forward attack.

The Saints took the kick off and marched down through the midfield.  Dubois got a great back pass from Eames and took a shot from the 18 yard line that pinged off the top corner post.  An all to familiar sound to the St. Thomas players.

Peter Ferrin and Xavier Quinn went in at at outside midfield at the 10 miniute mark.

The game became a back and forth battle with Windham coming up with corner kicks on their attacks.  the saints defended well and countered quickly.  At 15:50 Eames got a great through ball from Ferrin and took a shot that pinged off the lower corner post.

Half way through the period Jared Ham went in at outside mid and  Ian Boudrow went in for defense to add fresh legs.

The game was 0-0 at halftime.

The Jaguars took the kick to start the second half.  The Saints quickly took possesion and carried the ball up through the midfield.  St. Thomas controlled play in the offensive end of the field moving the ball well and changing fields.  The ball was worked into the corner and sent back to Griffiths who sent it actroiss the goal to Eams who burried it for the score.  St. Thomas had the lead 1-0 at 49:05.

At 51:32 Krieger came out off his line to get a ball and the Windham forward shot the ball chipping him, but as it looked like it was about to roll into the goal, Dubois came running on to it to clear it away.

Windham tied the score at 54:45 when the ball was chipped into the box and appeared to be brought down by the players hand before it was shot into the net.  No call was made by the Referee so the game was now tied 1-1.

Beau Patteson saw time at midfield as the Saints rotated to get fresah legs in the midfield.

The game went back an forth as each team tested the others defense looking to break the deadlock.

The Saints were pressing hard in the final 10 minutes looking for the go ahead goal.  Savage gathered up a clearence attempt by Windham and took it into the attack.  He took a shot from 25 yards out and pinged it off the cross bar.

The game went into overtime, just like the last time we played at Windham 2 years ago.

The Saints took the kick and carried play into the Jaguars end.  They earned a throw in deep in their offensive third.  Extra defenders went up into the attack hoping to end the OT early.  The ball was cleared out and Windham had a player on a break away counter as the sints were caught up on the offensive.  Andrew Lawman went in on Krieger and beat him to the far corner ending the sudden death overtime.  A tough loss for St. Thomas who once again felt they shouldn't have gone to overtime in Windham.

St. Thomas shots on goal 8 to the Jaguars 7.  Saints keeper Krieger made 6 saves.  Windham Keeper made 4 saves and the goal posts were hit 3 times.  The Saints had 1 corner kick to the Jaguars 9.

3 Windham players were verbally warned by the game official and none from St. Thomas so once again coach was proud of the way the Saints kept their composure.
